Dr. Rakesh Kumar is working as a Professor at Department of Civil Engineering, Sharda University since 11th February, 2021. Earlier, he served as Scientist ‘G’ & Head of Surface Water Hydrology Division, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. He has more than 36-years R&D experience in the area of hydrological modelling, design flood estimation, flood inundation modelling and flood management.
He obtained B.E. Civil Eng., M.E. Hydraulics & Irrigation Eng. and Ph.D. in Hydrology from IIT, Roorkee. Received four months training at UC, Davis, USA; four months training at DHI, Denmark and trainings at ICHARM, Japan and IHE, Netherlands under UNDP/ World Bank/ EU programs.
He has 244 publications and member of 70 National & International technical committees. He has 80 research papers in national and international journals. He has 229 conference papers in national and international conferences and 10 book chapters.
He has received four months training at UC, Davis, USA; four months training at DHI, Denmark and trainings at ICHARM, Japan and IHE, Netherlands under UNDP/ World Bank/ EU programs. He has completed 75 R&D and sponsored research studies. He has Carried out 54 consultancy projects of more than Rs.16 crores including 3 World Bank projects. He has organized 50 workshops/ training courses, and National/ International conferences. He has guided 4 Master’s and Ph.D. theses.
