Prof. Dr. Nayan Sharma (Ph.D.), Executive Director & Chief Advisor

Prof. Dr. Nayan Sharma is Chief Advisor of Innovante Water Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and Distinguished Professor in Shiv Nadar University, Institution of Eminence India and Adjunct Professor in IIT Roorkee. His specialization covers Water Management, River Engineering, Hydraulic Structures, Dam Safety, Irrigation Science. He guided 174 Master’s and 22 Ph.D. theses in IIT Roorkee. He has 236 publications and has been member of 67 national & international technical committees. He conducted 132 consulting projects & 12 major national - international research schemes. He has four books published by SPRINGER with one by INCID.

The INDIAN SOCIETY FOR HYDRAULICS conferred him prestigious 'ISH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for year 2020' for his contribution to water resources engineering and hydraulics on 26th March 2021.

In 2016, The INDIAN SOCIETY FOR HYDRAULICS conferred him JALVIGYAN PURASKAR and S. N. GUPTA MEMORIAL AWARDS. He conducted hydraulic modelling for design of innovative PIANO KEY WEIR as FIRST in India in Major Hydel SawraKuddu HEP in Himachal Pradesh. This accrued sizable project cost savings adapting the unviable project into a viable one, besides boosting hydraulic efficiency of spillways for Dam Safety.

He was recipient of reputed INDO-SWISS BILATERAL RESEARCH INITIATIVE AWARD as Visiting Professor in EPFL Lausanne Switzerland. He was an Honorary Professor of River Science in The University of Nottingham UK. He was Member of National Committee for Ganga River Act of Govt. of India.

He delivered talks in The Imperial College London, Southampton University UK, Edinburgh University Scotland, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne Switzerland, University of Iowa USA, Instituto Superior Técnico Lisbon University Portugal and Gottingen University Germany. He delivered Dr K. L. Rao Memorial Lecture in 26th National Convention of Civil Engineers hosted by Institution of Engineers (India) and S. N. Gupta Memorial Lecture in 21st HYDRO International Conference of The Indian Society for Hydraulics.

IWAI gainfully implemented his ECOFRIENDLY River Training Design scheme on Ganga River in 2010 for cost-efficient navigation channel and Australian Govt. granted him Innovation Patent as its INVENTOR.

His latest book "RIVER SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND MANAGEMENT" was adjudged as Top Downloaded Title Performing as Leader in 2017 by book publisher SPRINGER. He was Adjudged STAR PERFORMER and awarded EXCELLENT rating on overall performance for year 2005-06 by IIT-Roorkee.

Dr. Dheeraj Kumar (Ph.D), Managing Director & CEO

Dr. Dheeraj Kumar is the founding member, Managing Director and CEO of Innovante Water Solutions Pvt. Ltd. He is deeply involved in research and development in the area of water resources Management. He has completed his B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering from Allahabad Agricultural Institute Deemed University, Allahabad (UP) in 2006 and M. Tech from the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in 2008. He received his PhD in Water Resource Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2016. He has to his credit more than 20 research papers/ book chapters in national and international journals, conferences and Publishers. He has completed more than 50 consultancy projects. His expertise is in water resources planning & management, Watershed Management, river morphology, hydrology, soil and water conservation, command area development, Catchment Area Treatment, etc.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar (Ph.D.), Technical Advisor Hydrology & Hydraulic

Dr. Rakesh Kumar is Technical Advisor - Hydrology and Hydraulic at Innovante Water Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Earlier, he served as Scientist ‘G’ & Head of Surface Water Hydrology Division, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. He obtained B.E. Civil Eng., M.E. Hydraulics & Irrigation Eng. and Ph.D. in Hydrology from IIT, Roorkee. Received four months training at UC, Davis, USA; four months training at DHI, Denmark and trainings at ICHARM, Japan and IHE, Netherlands under UNDP/ World Bank/ EU programs. More than 36-years R&D experience in the area of hydrological modelling, design flood estimation, flood inundation modelling and flood management.

Published more than 300 research papers in international and national journals and conferences and 10 chapters in the books. Completed 75 R&D and sponsored research studies. Carried out 54 consultancy projects of more than Rs.16 crores, as the Principal Investigator/ Co-PI. Developed flood formulae for 78% area of India. Worked as Nodal Officer for NIH for the World Bank Funded Hydrology Project-II during 2006 to 2014; wherein DSS(P) was developed and implemented in six Central Agencies and nine States and an expenditure of Rs. 46.82 crore was incurred for the NIH component of the project. Worked as Member-Secretary of Indian National Committee on Hydrology for International Hydrological Program of UNESCO.

Drafted chapters in the “Standards/ Guidelines for small hydropower development” for Ministry of new and Renewable Energy. Contributed as Member of Expert Committee for preparation of “Manual on Storm Water Drainage System - 2019” by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Working as a Member of Review Committee for preparation of “Guidelines for Classifying the Hazard Potential of Dams” as well as “Guidelines for selecting and accommodating inflow design flood” being prepared by CWC under Dams Rehabilitation and Improvement Project. Organized more than 45 national and international training programs, conferences and symposia.

Twenty foreign visits have been made for trainings, conferences and meetings under the UNDP, World Bank, UNESCO, European Union, AWCI, ADPHT and other projects.

Received nine Best Paper Awards including, “The Union Ministry of Water Resources – Department of Irrigation Prize”; “Hem Prabha – SN Gupta Medal”; Briz Mohan Lal Memorial Medal” of the Institution of Engineers of India; “Certificate of Merit” of the Institution of Engineers of India and Best Paper Award of the Indian Water Resources Society and eight Appreciation Letters including from General Officer Commanding , Western Command and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. for consultancy studies.

Dr. Mamta Saxena (Ph.D), Project Manager - Water

Dr. Mamta Saxena is Project Manager (Water) at Innovante Water Solutions Pvt. Ltd. She has completed her M.Tech. & PhD in Hydrology from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 2012. She has completed her Bachelor of Science in 2002 and Masters of Science (Mathematics) in 2004 from Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra. She has also qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). She has a strong mathematical background and served as a Quality Analyst in a Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO). She has several research papers in national and international journals, conferences and Publishers. Her expertise is in Mathematical Modelling, Hydrology, Groundwater Modelling, Surfacewater–groundwater interaction, Drainage-Area analysis, Flood Routing, Watershed Management, Catchment Area Treatment, etc.

Er. Rajnish Kumar Verma – Design Engineer (Water)

Er. Verma is Professional Water Resource Engineer. At present, he is working as Design Engineer (Water) in Innovante Water Solution Pvt. Ltd. He has an experience of 2 years as Civil Site Engineer and now he is deeply involved in research and development in the area of water resources Management. He has completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna (Bihar) and M. Tech in the Department of Water Engineering and Management from Central University of Jharkhand in 2021. He is an Associate Member of IEI (Institution of Engineers, India). He has published a research paper entitled “Channel morphology and prediction of mid-line channel migration in the reach of Ganga River using GIS and ARIMA modeling during 1975–2020” in International Water Association (IWA). His expertise is in Hydraulic Modelling (1D/2D), Physical Modelling, Design of Civil Structures, Climate Change, Design of Erosion Protection, River Morphology, River Training Works, etc. He has expertise in employing various geospatial tools and techniques such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, CivilGEO and RStudio in the field of Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Hydraulics, and other related areas.

Er. Binod Kumar Sinha – Technical Advisor (Dam)

Er. Binod Kumar Sinha is Hydraulic Structural & Hydrology Engineer Sediment Expert, Bridge, Road & Flood Expert. He has completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1984 and M. Tech in Civil Engg. (Water Resources) from IIT Roorkee in 2003. He served as Director, Dam Safety (S.E.) and S.E. Dam and gate Design circle, S.E. Design Flood Control in Central Design Organization, W.R.D. Govt of Bihar, Patna from 2016 to 2020 and Executive Engineer in W.R.D. Govt of Bihar, Patna from 2013 to 2016. He successfully completed Design and Drawing of New Dam in Jamui District of Bihar and Layout planning, supervision of construction activities, preparation of bill etc. for Construction of Chandil Dam on Subernarekha River Near Jamshedpur. He has designed more than 50 major hydraulic structures in W.R.D. Bihar during his tenure. The major role of his assignment at W.R.D. Bihar was to advise and provide technical support to field engineers for construction of Durgawati Dam in kaimur Dist, Bihar and also for the Preparation of E.A.P. and Operation Manual, Dam break analysis and preparation of inundation map, conducting various studies like Siltation of Reservoirs, Installation of Instrumentation like Rain gauge, and AWLR etc. of the other 23 existing large dams in Bihar.

Er. Devendra Kumar Agarwal (Retired Engineer-in-Chief, UP Irrigation Dept)

Er. Agarwal is a Hydro Design Expert having experience of more than 60-years in Planning, Design and Construction of Small & big size hydro-electric projects. He completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering from University of Roorkee in 1958. He is engaged in the for more than 60 years. He authored about 15 technical papers. He was ‘The Chairman’ of BIS committees RVD 17 – Cross Drainage Works and Member of RVD 15 – Hydroelectric Power house Structure. He worked in Irrigation Department, Uttar Pradesh from 1959 to 1995 and retired as an Engineer-in-Chef in 1995.

From March 1995 to August 1997 he worked as independent consultant with M/S Consulting Engineering Services, New Delhi for preliminary design of substructure of Maheshwar Hydro-electric power station and with AHEC, University of Roorkee & M/S REDECON, New Delhi for preparation of DPRs, Preliminary & final designs of a number of small mini and micro hydro-electric power projects. During February 1996 to March 1997, he served as a visiting professor in Water Resources Development and Training Centre, University of Roorkee and delivered lectures on design aspects of hydro-power stations. During September 1997 to December 2002, he worked as a Vice President / Senior Vice President in M/S Jaypee Power Ventures Ltd., New Delhi and responsible for complete Civil Design of (3 x 100 MW) Baspa Hydro Electric Project, Stage-I (4 x 150 MW) Baglihar Hydro-electric Project, planning of (4 x 150 MW) Baglihar Hydro-electric Project Stage II and Vishnu Prayag Hydro-electric project (4 x 100 MW). He was a consultant to Irrigation Department for Preparation of DPR of Tiuni – Plasu HEP and preparation of construction drawings of Maneri – Bhali Project Stage – II of Power House, Surge Shaft and HRT Plug. He was a consultant of THDC for preparation of DPR of Dhukwan HEP & preparation of Power House, Intake and Spillway Drawings for DPR of Sankosh HEP.

Dr. Shakti Suryavanshi (Ph.D) Advisor Hydrology

Dr. Suryavanshi is a Hydrologist and Hydrological modelling Expert having experience of more than 13-years in the field of Hydrology and hydrological modelling. He is an Assistant Professor in the department of Civil Engineering, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Allahabad. He has completed his B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Allahabad Agricultural Institute Deemed University, Allahabad (UP) in 2006 and M. Tech in Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Conservation Engg) from Allahabad Agricultural Institute Deemed University, Allahabad (UP) in 2008. He received his PhD in Water Resources Development and Management from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2013. His area of research is Hydrological Modelling, Water resources Development and Management, Remote Sensing and GIS applications in agriculture. He has published more than 16 research papers in international journals, 02 book/chapter and presented 08 conference papers. He also contributed himself as Editorial Board Member, Journal of Natural Resources Conservation and Research, USA and reviewer of more than 10 reputed journals. Dr. Suryavanshi is also a Co-Project Investigator in UPCAR sponsored project ‘Farming system-based water budgeting for Samrakalwana village at Allahabad’ during 2014-17 and DST sponsored project ‘Ensuring Food and Livelihood Security through Farming System Based Water Budgeting in Water Challenged and Backward Socio-Economic Clusters in Trans Yamuna areas at Allahabad’, 2018-2020. Dr. Suryavanshi is a recipient of ‘Young Scientist Award-2015’ in National conference ‘Rural Livelihood Security through Innovative Agri-entrepreneurship’ at CPRI, ICAR Patna and Scientist of the Year Award 2017, by Science & Tech Society for Integrated Rural Development, Telangana.

Dr. Shailendra Kumar Kumre (Ph.D.) – Consultant

Dr. Kumre is a Consultant at INNOVANTE having expertise in the field of Hydrology and Water Resources. His major domain expertise is on Hydrological and Hydraulic Modelling, Sediment Yield Modelling, River Morphology & Sedimentation, and Environmental Flow Modelling. He received his M.Tech degree in Hydrology and Ph.D. degree in Water Resource Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in year 2013 & 2019. He has more than 10 years’ experience in the field of Hydrology, agriculture & water conservation, Survey, Groundwater modelling and other allied areas. He has to his credit more than 13 research papers/ book chapters in national and international journals, conferences and Publishers. He has completed more than 06 consultancy and research projects.

Dr. Muntjeer Ali – Environmental Expert

Dr. Muntjeer Ali has more than 10-year experience in the field of municipal, Industrial wastewater, water and solid waste management. He holds his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from IIT Roorkee, India. During his Ph.D. and post PhD, he has worked in several consultancy projects on adequacy of STPs, CETPs, ETPs and solid waste management. He has done postdoctoral research from Tohoku University, Japan and worked as National Expert in Hydroplan a German based environmental consultancy company for the industrial wastewater and sludge management. He is currently engaged as senior researcher in Indo-EU and Indo UK research projects.

Er. Neeraj Kumar, Consultant

Er. Kumar is a Civil/Water Resource Engineer having expertise on employing various geospatial tools and techniques in the fields of Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Agriculture and other related areas. Mr. Kumar have more than four years of experience in both teaching and research. His area of expertise includes but not limited to Hydrology & Hydraulics, River Engineering, Groundwater Modelling, Highway & Bridge Engineering, Soil Health Monitoring, design of WTP and STP, etc. He has to his credit more than 13 research papers/ book chapters in national and international journals, conferences and Publishers. He has numerous patents which are widely used for flood disasters mitigation and two more are in the review process. At present, he is working as water resource engineer at Innovante Water Solution and developing state-of-the-art tool for modelling crop water use and crop growth using artificial intelligence and satellite imagery.

Er. Kedar Singh, Physical Modelling Expert

Er. Singh is a Physical Modelling Expert having more than 50-years’ experience in 3-Dimensional Hydraulic modelling of Dams, Barrages, Weirs, Intake structures, Spillways, Head-Race-Tunnel (HRT) etc. He completed his M. Sc. (Physics) from Agra University in 1967 and AMIE in Civil Engineering from Institution of Engineers, University of Roorkee in 1980. He worked around 33 years in Irrigation Research Institute, Roorkee and retired as Research Officer (Superintending Engineer). In Irrigation Research Institute he conducted hydraulic model study of more than 17 different projects. He worked for more than 16 years in IIT Roorkee as a Consultant and completed Physical Modelling of more than 26 various projects.

Er. Anil kumar, Professional Water Resource Engineer

Er. Anil kumar is a Professional Water Resource Engineer. At present, he is working as Design Engineer (CFD) in Innovante Water Solution Pvt. Ltd. He is deeply involved in research and development in the area of water resources Management. He has completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Ideal Institute of Management and Technology Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) and M.Tech from the Department of Hydraulics Engineering at IIT Roorkee in the year 2022. His expertise is in Hydraulic Modelling by CFD, Physical Modelling, Design of Civil Structures, etc. He has expertise in MS project, AutoCAD 2D/3D, Flow-3D etc.
